Our Schedule

Wooden Buddha statue with raised hand, sitting cross-legged on a table with candles, tea, and incense, surrounded by flowers and artwork.
A bowl containing a mixture of crumbled chips and whole potato chips, placed on a wooden surface with a patterned wallpaper behind it.
A shallow outdoor pond with fallen leaves, surrounded by greenery and rocks, at sunset.

Sunday Morning

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month in our city dojo, located above Gould’s Natural Medicine in Hobart City. We practice a sutra service, zazen (seated meditation), kinhin (walking meditation) and a tea ceremony for two hours between 9am and 11am. There is also an option for you to join this sit online via zoom.

The Sunday Service is the core of zen meditation. It’s a great way to learn about zen and regular attendance helps to develop a strong practice and share with our community. If you would like to join us, please email us and we invite you to come in half an hour earlier so we can offer you an orientation to the practice.

Thursday Evening

On Thursday evenings from 6.30 to 7.30 pm we practice two rounds of zazen (seated meditation), with kinhin (walking meditation) in between. There is an option to join this sit either online or in person

Wednesday Lunch

On Wednesday Lunchtime we meet for one half hour round of zazen at 12.30pm. This is an in-person sit hosted at our city dojo, above Gould’s Natural Medicine in Hobart City.

Events

We generally host two longer meditation retreats during the year. This includes a zazenkai (two day retreat) during February or March, and a longer sesshin (5 day retreat) during July.

We also host Meditation for Climate Grief workshops which serve as an introduction to meditation and a place where we can share our concerns about the environmental, climate and humanitarian crises that we are currently facing.

The best way to stay informed about our retreats is to join our mailing list:
